We’re pleased to introduce Declan Hogan as the new Campus Director at our Valley Stream Campus. Declan is a veteran of Camps ‘R’ Us, attending as a Camper and working as a Counselor for many summers. We are excited to welcome Declan back to the CRU!
Here’s a little bit more from Declan:
My name is Declan and I’m excited to be the new campus director at Valley Stream. As a kid, I spent most of my summers at Camps ‘R’ Us as a camper and C2. I also worked as a Group Counselor and a Voyagers Counselor for several summers.
I graduated from Queens College in 2016 with a degree in Anthropology. I spent the summer as a NYC Teaching Fellow before entering the classroom in September 2016. I earned my masters degree in Special Education from Hunter College and I am currently enrolled in a program to get my EdD in Supervision and Administration at St. John’s University. I am in my sixth year of teaching and I have been a high school teacher the whole time. I’ve taught special education, math, science, and a little bit of history.
My favorite part of teaching is building relationships with my students. I believe that without understanding who my students are, I can’t successfully teach them. I plan to incorporate this within the Valley Stream campus by fostering relationships to ensure campers and staff members can have the best summer ever!
I am excited to rejoin the Camps ‘R’ Us family and cannot wait to see everyone on June 27th!
